I don't understand why Thomas William Cronin's trilogy isn't as famous as Kim Stanley Robinson's.
When I search Cronin's name, I find this obituary from Feb of this year.

Hello and welcome! I agree that Thomas William Cronin's trilogy is hugely underrated; they're engaging novels with a high level of scientific and technical realism. Good to hear from someone else who's read them!

The "About the Author" section of As It Is On Mars reads "The author, Thomas William Cronin, has a Ph.D. in physics and has contributed published research on Mars. He is also a Full Professor in the Science Faculty at a major university. He has written many technical books, distributed worldwide." (https://www.amazon.com/As-Mars-Thomas-W ... 0968750206) This suggests that "Thomas William Cronin" is a pen name, used only for his Mars novels.
